Vacuum Cleaners – Upright or Canister? Deciding amongst all the vacuum cleaners on the market today as to which is the best for your needs and your home can be a little tricky. There are so many choices in vacuum cleaners, and so shopping for vacuum cleaners can be quite intimidating. One of the things you need to do is make a note of the main parts of your house that always need to be cleaned, and decide on what features you would probably like in vacuum cleaners. You might be considering whether you should be looking at upright or canister vacuum cleaners, and here are some tips to consider when shopping for vacuum cleaners : Canister Vacuum Cleaners Canister vacuum cleaners are quite easy to use and very portable. For people that have small carpeted parts of the house or that need a hard floor surface vacuumed, canister vacuum cleaners are the best choice. These vacuum cleaners also come with attachments that help, and features such as brush agitators or a revolving brush system. These features in vacuum cleaners are excellent for pet hair, and should be considered if you have pets. Canister vacuum cleaners come in bagged and bagless models. Upright Vacuum Cleaners If your home is mostly (or all) carpeted, upright vacuum cleaners are the better choice. Upright vacuum cleaners also come with many different features. Make sure when you're shopping for vacuum cleaners that the upright is light weight, easy to lift and move around. Upright vacuum cleaners also have both bagged and bagless models available. Hand held and Steamed Vacuum Cleaners These might also be worth some consideration. Hand held vacuum cleaners are small, portable vacuum cleaners ideal for a spill or stain (such as, the dog walking mud in the carpet.) It prevents you needing to get the vacuum cleaner out. Hand held vacuum cleaners are also good for doing a quick vacuum of the car. Steam vacuum cleaners look like upright vacuum cleaners, it has a large tank that mixes hot water and a cleaning solution into a steam for cleaning the carpet. Steam vacuum cleaners have rotating brushes and a powerful suction device. Bagged and bagless vacuum cleaners? Some might be questioning what the difference between bagged vacuum cleaners and bagless vacuum cleaners are. Bagged vacuum cleaners are when the dirt and debris is sucked into a throwaway bag. The disadvantages of this model is that you're never quite sure when the bag is entirely full (unless the vacuum cleaner has a display that shows you) and it can be quite costly needing to buy new bags. Bagless vacuum cleaners are when the dirt is sucked into a container that can be emptied and re-used. Bagless vacuum cleaners are becoming increasingly popular due to the fact that you can see when the container is full, and there is no need to purchase new containers.
