The Best Educational Toys

The Best Educational Toys

As parents, we want to give the best to our children, and especially provide something that will enrich their lives and provide both entertainment and education to them. When looking at toys to purchase them, we can be lost in all the hype from toy companies telling us this or that about education. One of the important things to remember is that all experiences – especially new ones – help in learning with a child. What you need to keep an eye on is where your child is perhaps not developing, and find toys that could help in that area. There are, however, a few brands in toys that are producing the best in educational toys:

Leapfrog

Electronic toys are not usually very popular among parents, but LeapFrog is changing that opinion in many ways. They provide highly innovative toys which focus on engaging the child and educating, through technological means. In todays world, getting kids used to technology is actually imperative. Leapfrog has a motto for its toys : “Learning is first.”

Lego

Lego needs no real introduction, and I still have a box with all my lego toys in from when I was young. Lego toys are durable and last even more than a lifetime. Their toys focus on every stage of a child's development and are also very sociable toys as kids can build together. Social skills are of utmost importance in a child's development. The word Lego comes from two Danish words “Leg godt” which means “play well.”

Cranium

Cranium focuses on creating toys for all ages and different natural abilities. Their toys like to develop creativitiy, discovery and performing skills. Their toys are about engaging and entertaining, causing children to want to discover and be creative. They also have highly sociable toys, meaning they can be played with children and adults – which is great for social skills development.

Discovery Toys

Discovery Toys sell toys for every age group, and also have a special range of toys for children with autism. They have a program they call the “Learning Pathways Chart” that matches children's readiness and skills. They like to help a child to desire to acquire learning skills, and to be creative in their approaches. Motor abilities and thinking abilities are the main skills Discovery Toys appears to focus on.

Fat Brain Toys

Not only is the name brand of this toy company interesting, but so are their toys! Their motto is to provide the 'best, safest and highest quality toys.” All ages are covered, and Fat Brain is heavily involved with schools. They also publish a free newsletter (“Toy Times”) for interested parents and children. Themes included in the newsletter are science, alternative learning and vocabulary.

When choosing educational toys it is best not to stick with one particular name brand, but get the toys that help your child in the area that he / she needs it most. Perhaps they need social skills? Lego toys would be a good idea. Perhaps they need learning skills? Discovery Toys could be the best choice. But every name brand has their own products  and are all worth a good look.
