People always wonder about how much luggage they should take on a trip. People may joke that women always take to much luggage with them, but could they actually be right with the amount? In this day and age of population growth and the world seeming to be getting smaller by the day, it is important that we more efficiently use the things we have, including the luggage that we carry around with us. Let’s say that you are taking a day trip to Bondi Beach with your husband and two children. Some people might think that luggage is not needed for a day trip. But if you take into account that your children might want to go swimming, the cost of food, and the health and well being of your family, you might rethink that. In a case like this, one decent sized gym bag as luggage would be able to hold and carry all the clothes, towels, snacks, and sun block that you might need on your trip. If you have more than one piece of luggage for this trip, then you might be pushing it a bit far because you need the room in the car for the family to be comfortable for the drive to the beach and back without the luggage getting in the way. What about luggage for trips that will be a few days in length? On flights to other cities, people seem to think that just because they can have two carry-on pieces of luggage as well as luggage that will be stored in the plane that they have to have all these pieces of luggage. On a trip that is just going to be a few days, all a person really needs is one large piece of luggage that will be checked into the luggage compartment for the flight and one small carry on piece of luggage that will be taken on and stored in the space under your seat. All of your clothes, hygiene products, and such will be able to fit into a good sized piece of luggage. You can take smaller items like keys, a book, maybe even a mp3 player or laptop in your convenient carry-on piece of luggage. I had someone ask me about extra room in their luggage for gifts and souvenirs, and yes, it’s always a good idea to leave a little extra space. Here’s one way of doing this: when you pack you luggage, take your own towels. Let’s face it, hotel towels are never very soft, and if you buy cheap towels, you can simply get rid of them when you are ready to head home Just throw away the towels and replace them in your luggage with all the items that you bought on your trip When you are packing your luggage, you need to consider the amount of space you have for your luggage. Do not over think the items that you are trying to add to your luggage. Remember, keep your packing list simple and you’ll find that you have plenty of room in your luggage. |
