Jewellery Inspiration and Designs

Jewellery has always been a form of art in design and allurement. From the most ancient civilizations to today, jewellery has been an integral part of beauty. Jewellery designers are constantly looking for new sources of inspiration, new ideas and concepts to represent in jewellery. When it comes to buying jewellery, men often think that they have to buy the most expensive and exclusive kind of jewellery for the woman in their life. Mostly, though, women prefer jewellery gifts that have had some thought put into them rather than having an expensive price. If the jewellery matches an outfit, for instance, it can make a great gift.

Jewellery designers get their inspiration from a wide range of areas. The goal of the jewellery designer is to provide a unique experience, through different materials and designs. This is why jewellery design can really be seen as an art form.

Jewellery designers may get inspiration from looking at the different eras of beauty and fashion historically – and here they have a huge pool to dig from. They can look at medieval art and designs, egyptian art and designs, art deco styles, baroque styles, and many more. Even architecture can serve as a wonderful source of inspiration for jewellery design, or paintings, sculptures, textile patterns and calligraphy. Often jewellery designers will look to all these. Many designers like to bring these older art forms and styles together with modern ideas, to create something truly unique – and timeless. Bringing ancient art-forms back in new ways is a common phenomenon of art in general, and often leads to totally new styles and concepts being developed.

Designers will often look at nature for jewellery concepts, which is another endless source of ideas. The many shapes, colors, forms and varieties of flowers, insects, birds, animals and trees will never fail to spark the imagination of those that fashion jewellery. Many jewellery masterminds will create through using symbolic sources, including ancient calligraphy, modern or old symbols, monograms, logo's, zodiac signs or even ideas taken from fantasy or sci-fi novels. Perhaps a designer may also ponder deep philosophical, theological or social concepts and fashion jewellery that represents this thought. Many artists get their inspiration from such concepts, and jewellery designers are certainly no different.

Jewellery has evolved in many ways, and will certainly continue to evolve. Ethnic concepts and designs are particularly fashionable in many ways these days, mixed with retro and modern ideas. Jewellery is, of course, a very personal item and therefore everyone has their own taste, likes, dislikes and style. Particular jewellery goes well with particular outfits, dresses or styles. Many women may like certain concepts, and if the designer has done a sterling job the concept will come out in the jewellery – attracting certain people. Jewellery has become more easily available, as well, not just being available in expensive jewellery stores. Many on-line shopping stores offer a mélange of beautiful, elegant necklaces, bracelets and other forms of jewellery for sale.
