The internet as become a very useful tool for us these days. The very idea of shopping has even changed. A lot of online shopping sites have been appearing that we can go to for our online shopping. While these sites have a lot of items that you can search through to find the perfect one that you are shopping for, some problems come from these shopping sites. One of the ones that I hate the most is the time it takes to get the items that I spend time shopping for to my door. It took me a while to figure out that I had to plan my online shopping trips a few weeks in advance to be sure I had my gifts.  There’s no last minute shopping online unless you’re willing to pay for expedited shipping!

Internet shopping has increased a lot over the last few years. There has been talk among the physical stores about how if the trend continues, most people will be doing all their shopping from home and there would not be a need for physical shopping locations anymore. Even some of the companies that started out with just a few stores have stared online shopping sites. Wal-Mart and K-Mart have been putting a lot of time in their online shopping sites because of the growing demand for them. One study has showed that nearly 85 percent of the population of Sydney has done some of their shopping online. With numbers like that, the internet has become a huge market for the shopping public with no true end in sight.

Some of the disadvantages of shopping on the internet are that you are never sure what you will be getting, plus there’s the chance that the items might be damaged on the way to your home. There was a time that it was “once you click, it is yours.” This was a major concern for online shoppers for a while, but now, a lot of companies have taken steps towards making that less of a concern for people shopping on their sites. Many have included online guarantee that help protect people shopping on their sites from the many bad things that could happen to any of their products. They have extended their return policy to include the online shopping sites as well. This has helped alleviate some of the fears that people shopping on the internet have had. And while some don’t think the shopping experience is the same online, some think it’s easier.  Most online shops include everything that a physical store has.  They even include a discount section, and some of the deals are great – I got this digital camera, for example, at less than half the suggested retail cost.  Another worry that has arisen is the possibility of identity theft while shopping online. In the past, some shopping sites did not utilize online security for any credit card numbers or personal information that was entered on their site. As the need for online shopping grew, however, these sites quickly added security.  Companies are now trying to show their shoppers that even when they’re shopping in the store on online, they are still valued customers and will be protected.
