Shopping with children can be an absolute nightmare, and can turn a quick shopping trip to the busy Australian shopping mall into something that takes much longer than it ever should. To avoid these kind of shopping situations, and to make shopping with children a much better experience, here are some shopping tips:
1) Be attentive to a child's natural needs Sometimes remembering that children have limits can help tremendously. Are they tired? Hungry? Do they get over-excited easily when there's noise and confusion at the shopping mall? They may simply just be short on exercise, and that's why they're running around the shopping mall. A reasurring hug can sometimes help them – in the beginning – to be a little more behaved (perhaps even a good talk before you enter the mall, explaining things to them.) Planning your shopping trips ahead are the best thing to do. 2) The inquisitiveness of children The reason why children 'touch' things at the shopping centre is because they're naturally curious. This is a way that they are learning. The shopping experience is also a learning experience for them. Sometimes its best to help them hold an item, and show them how to hold it safely, rather than scolding them. Or, you can look at it together and explain to them about it. 3) Keep yourself de-stressed Before going shopping, ensure that you yourself aren't stressed. This is because your stress and panic will naturally rub off on your children. Make sure you've eaten, and have the necessary patience for the shopping mall. 4) Get them involved during your shopping Pre-school children and toddlers will enjoy involvement : maybe you can use them to count and choose certain items from your shopping list. Make the event into an educational experience, or into a form of a game. Ask them to help make decisions – like which particular pasta sauce looks more exciting or sounds more tasty. Let them choose some products for the family, this helps them to feel that they are also bringing their part, helping with the shopping, and can be a great way of getting them used to that idea (especially when chores come around.) 5) Bringing something along before going shopping Bringing along a favorite snack, juice, or a much-loved (or new) book can do wonders for young children and keep them busy. 6) Older children and shopping Older children can help find items that are needed themselves. Maybe giving them a small grocery shopping list will help to make the shopping quicker : and they would be happy to hear that too. Even cut out pictures from the magazine of food items is a great idea. 7) Get a moment away from shopping! If you are starting to stress, remember that your child is watching (and learning) how to manage stress from how you manage. Perhaps take a break outside, or do something to help you calm down from the shopping, and they will also have a chance to get some fresh air or relax a little.
Shopping with children can be made a lot easier and fun in these ways, but there is one more way to help you do your shopping conveniently and without hassle : online shopping from an online site like www.factoryfast.com.au. |
